I hope you all had a great Christmas season, and are enjoying this mild winter.
I am writing this as my wife, Lori and I relax with our good friends, Jim and Sue Cummings down in Key West; where we are spending the bulk of what is usually the coldest month of the year. I’m secretly hoping that the worst of winter hits while we’re gone, so we can justify the cost of this getaway!
Do you hear the grinding of gears; the smell of exhaust?
That’s the sound, and feel, of our reunion engine starting back up and coughing out the cobwebs!
In case you haven’t heard yet, the Class of 1976, 1977 and 1978 have decided to pool their resources and organize a joint (that’s almost legal now) reunion with another great party weekend in Chatham!
July 22 and 23, of this summer are the days the magic happens this time around. I hope you’re as stoked for the upcoming party the reunion committee is! In fact tickets are already available here now!
So far, this year’s reunion committee consists of the following Tecumseh 76-78 grads:
If you would like to help out with the reunion planning, we’d love to hear from you! Please contact us soon!
We have already had a couple of meetings, most recently on January 23, and we have nailed down the dates, venues, entertainment, menu and ticket prices! Not bad, considering it took nearly three meetings to accomplish this much last time!
We have created this ALL NEW website, specifically for our 2016 Reunion, so be sure to look around as all details regarding our reunion activities are featured here. We are also working to eventually migrate the original Tecumseh Reunion website’s content into this new website, after which it will be retired and this one christened as Tecumsehreunion.com!
We have lots of ways to reconnect and keep in touch. Our Facebook reunion page is still going strong and growing. If you haven’t visited it lately, or if you are one of the two or three people that still haven’t made the leap to social media, click here here to see what you have been missing.
We also have an event page on our Facebook group just for this reunion, so be sure to check that out too!
We are very excited to have this opportunity to bring staff and alumni of the golden years of Tecumseh back together for this great gathering.
For Class of 1976, this is a Milestone year of 40 years since we graduated. Can you IMAGINE that it’s been 40 YEARS?!?! This is why we are calling it Tecumseh Class of ’76 – ’78 – 40th(ish) Anniversary Reunion Party .
The great thing about this year’s effort is that much of the work in locating people has already been done, and we can now work on filling in the gaps, and also on putting together best party that we can … all for you, our fellow graduates!
To that end, we have once again secured the services of the great band, Friends, to whom we danced, not only at the Red Barrel Room as teenagers, but also at our 70’s decade reunion at the Kinsmen Auditorium in July of 2011!
Much has changed since our last gathering, most notably, the passing of a few of our iconic people – Jim and Carole Noble, Graham Smyth, Ron Kingham and others, as well as some of our former classmates. For this reason, if none other, this is a call for you to come and reconnect with friends and colleagues from your teenage years. These are the kids that you spent your formative years with – those with whom you forged the ideologies that carried you into your adulthood and made you who you are now. For some of us, I apologize for that last statement, but for most of us, hopefully that’s a GOOD thing!
Truth is, we’re not getting any younger, and our ability to continue to organize these reunions is not going to last forever.
From time to time, you will hear from me or others on our committee, in the form of our reunion newsletter. It won’t be weekly, but perhaps every couple of weeks or so. We’re still working on schedules, but this time we are going to try and give you the perspective of more people than just me, with the hope that we can convince you that now is the time to come together for our next great Tecumseh Braves Reunion!!
All the best,
Scott
